SHARE
Type: External (3.0 and later)
Syntax:
SHARE [/F:(space)] [/L:(locks)]
Purpose: Installs support for file sharing and file locking.
Discussion
The SHARE command is used only when networking is active. After you use
this
command, DOS will check all read or write requests to determine the file
sharing
or locking status.
The SHARE command can be included in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to install
shared
files.
Options
/F:space - Allocates file space (in bytes) for the area DOS will use
to
record file sharing information. Each file that is opened needs the
length of
the full filename plus eleven extra bytes of memory (the average is 20
bytes).
If you do not specify a value, it is set to 2048 bytes.
/L:locks - Allocates the number of locks to allow. If you do not
specify a
value, it is set to 20 locks.
Example
To load file sharing and use the default values for the /F and /L
switches,
